At “The Zone” finding great educational resources an help enhance each child’s communication (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) skills for future endeavors.

Our Belief

No two people are alike, which makes us our own unique individual with great potential to make a difference in the world around us. By using great communication skills we can begin to understand one another and build our interpersonal relationships with others, thus creating great connections. This starts with each of us learning the importance of educating ourselves for a concrete future with improved communication skills.

Objective #1: Our plan involves developing a strong system of essential services for young people that may assist in decreasing dropout rates, delinquency, and truancy while increasing employment skills, academic skills, and communication skills(reading, writing, speaking, and listening) for youth within their own community. By improving the educational skills of young people thru tutoring and homework help we will inadvertently help to improve neighborhoods, the community and the safety of its citizens because young people will begin talking, learning to understand one another, and communicating more effectively. A sense of community begins with effective communication and talking to those around us every day in a respectful manner.

Objective #2: We truly understand the importance of good communication in order to achieve SUCCESS in the workplace! At “The Zone” young people will have the opportunity to participate in a host of engaging activities geared at developing great communication skills and encouraging team and group participation. Activities like Poetry Slams; Are you Smarter than a 5th or 8th Grader?; Book Talks; and a host of other planned activities will assist young people in working together to accomplish a goal. We will help young people learn to communicate effectively with others through strategic and purposeful activities as they begin to enhance their own level of expertise and understanding about how to communicate within the world around them. This 21st Century strategy is just what jobs today need from our youth. Teaching them how to work together to accomplish a goal. These are necessary skills that will help students gain additional knowledge and skills to utilize in the future for their careers and life.

When will we see SUCCESS? True success will come when we see young people interacting more positively; communicating with one another and authority more productively; enhancing individual research and technological skills to improve their job viability and academic preparation for college and/or careers.Young people will understand the importance of their own self worth and how it enhances the community around them. By touching one life at a time we will assist schools and districts with preparing students for the community at large by developing better citizens.
